Wild about Bath Photographic Competition 2022!

Enter your lovely photos of wildlife in Combe Down, Monkton Combe, South Stoke, and the surrounding area, taken between April and October 2022.

The brief this year is:

‘The Jigsaw of Life – How does the individual plant or animal connect with the whole?’

Description: A photograph of wild plants or animals in their ecosystem illustrating the connections that are needed for life. For example: a caterpillar on its host plant; a flower and its pollinator, or a rotting log and the fungus that feeds on it, to illustrate the interconnections in nature and how interdependent everything is, including ourselves.

The photos will be on display on Sunday 9th October at Holy Trinity Church, Combe Down. The photos will be exhibited for the morning services and then the winners will be announced in the afternoon when the display can be seen at leisure with tea and cake served from 2:00 to 3:30.

Entries are to be of local wild plants and animals. You can enter 3 photos per person, they are to be A4 (10in x 8in) or smaller, printed, and delivered to the Church Rooms, 2A Avenue Place, BA2 5EE no later than Friday evening the 7th October. Larger photos can be handed into the church office (opening hours 9:30 to 12:30) or smaller photos through the letter box.

Each photo should have a title with a sentence about how it fulfils the brief. This should be written on a separate sheet, unattached, which we will mount with your photo for the display. (Please don’t mount your own photos.) Place your name and age (if a child) and contact details on the back.

Categories:

  • Children 5-11yrs
  • Young people 12-16yrs
  • Adults

Winners will be announced on Sunday 9 October at 2:30 with rosettes for the first 3 in each category and certificates for highly commended.

If you would like to have your photos returned please collect them from Holy Trinity Church Sunday 9th October at 4:00 or collect them from the Church Rooms the following week.

During the pandemic we learned how important nature was to us. With the war in Ukraine we are learning about how interconnected we are and how we can help each other.

It will be great to see lots of your amazing pictures!
