Foxhill in Flower
Front Garden Festival
Foxhill is surrounded by countryside, and gardens link green spaces up for wildlife, so help us celebrate gardens and wildlife in Foxhill by entering your front garden, balcony or drive into our Foxhill in Flower competition!
No matter your age, skill, or front area size or type, small steps can go a long way to helping all kinds of wildlife.
All Foxhill residents are welcome to join in!
What do I need to do?
- Sign up (see below)
You can do as little or as much as you like – if your front area already helps wildlife in some way, you can leave it exactly as it is!
If there is something you have been thinking of changing or adding, now is your chance!
If you only have a window, balcony, front steps or drive way you can still enter!
This is not about having a perfectly manicured, large, expensive to start up or maintain garden – all are welcome. Our aim is to celebrate the community and provide food and homes for local wildlife.
We would love to hear from you as you join in! You can either email us (see contact form below), join our Facebook group or find us on Instagram!
- There is no entrance fee
Ideas
Here are some ideas – perhaps you already have some of these, or have already thought of doing them! You don’t need to do all of these or even any of these if you have some ideas of your own!
Bird feeders
Container plants, window boxes or hanging baskets
Flower beds
A bike hut, shed, or bin shelter that needs a green roof
- A small pond
Hedges, trees or shrubs
- Somewhere to grow food (e.g. herbs, fruit trees/bushes, vegetables)
Hedgehog feeder/house
Insect house/solitary bee box/bird box/bat box
You could visit our Just one Thing page for more ideas!
Judging
Judges will visit your garden in August (dates to be confirmed). We won’t enter your property or garden at all, or knock on your door, so please don’t worry that strangers may be knocking on your door or that you might be at work or on holiday! We will respect your home and privacy at all times.
How can we help you?
Don’t get upset or stressed and don’t just assume that there’s no point in entering because you ‘won’t win anything’. We will give awards for front spaces where you have made what might be a small step to welcome wildlife. There are many ways you can get involved, no matter how daunting the start up may seem. Still don’t have any ideas? Have a walk around your street and see what your neighbours have done, or join our Facebook group. Unsure what plants would help wildlife? Visit our tips page, come to our Meadow in My Garden Talk in March, drop us an email or ask in the Facebook group.
Our Wild About Bath Plant Swap can help get you started too! Bring your spare seeds, seedlings, plants or garden equipment, and take any that you need with you, have a cup of tea and a good old fashioned natter, all for free! If you have nothing to bring, there’s no need to worry – you are still more than welcome to come and take anything you need to get you started.
Awards
We invite you, your friends and family to attend our awards event on Saturday September 16th 2-3.30 pm at St Andrew’s Church, Foxhill, where we will celebrate everyone’s hard work and achievements, and award some fabulous prizes.
Please find further information about the festival awards event here.

How to Enter
Fill in the form below, please include your address! We will be in touch with you soon to confirm that you would like to enter the competition and then will drop round a little sign for you to display in your front space.
